Creating a vision board is one of the most exciting steps in bringing my dream bakery, Buttercup Baking Co., to life. It’s more than just a collage of pretty pictures—it’s a tool that helps me shape my goals, refine my brand, and stay motivated through every stage of this journey. From the cozy atmosphere I want to create to the signature treats I’ll offer, my vision board constantly reminds me of the bakery I’m building. In this post, I’m sharing how I put mine together, what inspires me, and how it’s helping me turn my dream into reality.

A vision board is a visual representation of your goals, dreams, and aspirations. It’s typically a collage of images, words, and symbols that reflect what you want to achieve or create. Vision boards help bring clarity to your ideas, keep you inspired, and serve as a daily reminder of what you’re working toward.
Whether physical (a corkboard with cut-out pictures) or digital (a Pinterest board or Canva collage), a vision board is a powerful tool for manifesting your goals and making them feel more tangible.
A vision board brings clarity for the future by transforming abstract ideas into a tangible, visual roadmap. Instead of keeping your goals in your head, seeing them laid out helps define what you truly want, refine your focus, and make your dreams feel more achievable.
It also helps you recognize patterns in your desires—whether it’s a specific aesthetic, business model, or lifestyle—guiding your decision-making process. When you’re feeling overwhelmed or uncertain, your vision board serves as a reminder of your bigger purpose, keeping you on track and motivated to take action.
Defining Your Core Vision

Defining your core vision is the foundation of any dream, whether it’s a business, career, or personal goal. It starts with understanding your why—the purpose behind what you’re creating.
Ask yourself what inspired this journey, what emotions or experiences you want to create, and the impact you hope to have on others. For me, my bakery vision is rooted in spreading warmth and comfort through quality cookies baked with love.
Once you have a clear purpose, the next step is identifying your core values—the principles that will guide every decision you make. I’ve defined mine as quality, comfort, and family, ensuring that every cookie, interaction, and experience aligns with these beliefs.
Beyond values, it’s important to visualize the experience you want to create. How do you want people to feel when they interact with your brand? For my bakery, I imagine a space that feels cozy and nostalgic, bringing back warm memories of homemade treats. This vision shapes everything from my branding to my customer experience.
Finally, keeping your vision simple and clear helps you stay focused. A great way to do this is by writing it in a single sentence, like: “My vision is to create a bakery that brings warmth, nostalgia, and high-quality treats to customers, making them feel at home with every bite.”
Defining your core vision gives you a guiding star, helping you stay intentional and motivated as you bring your dream to life.
Gathering Inspiration
Gathering inspiration is the first step in creating a vision board because it helps turn your ideas into something real and tangible. If you’re not sure where to start, begin by looking at what inspires you—whether it’s Pinterest, magazines, or businesses you admire.

For me, I’ve found the most inspiration through Pinterest, but I also look up to a few creators who have influenced both my bakery and blog—Broma Bakery, a food blog, and Brooki Bakehouse, a bakery based in Australia. Between these creators and the countless ideas I’ve discovered, I’ve been able to shape my vision and find a guide to inspire me throughout my journey.
As you gather inspiration, pay attention to the themes and styles you’re naturally drawn to. What colors make you feel something? What kind of atmosphere do you want to create?
For my bakery, I want a cozy and inviting space that feels nostalgic and warm, which is why I’m drawn to bright, welcoming colors with a retro touch. More than just the quality of my baking, it’s the feeling and experience that truly draw customers in.
That’s why gathering inspiration is such an important first step—it helps you refine your vision and build a foundation for what you want to create. If you’re dreaming of starting something of your own, take the time to find what speaks to you. Your vision board will be your guide, helping you bring your dreams to life one step at a time.

Assembling the Vision Board
The main reason for creating the vision board is to visualize and manifest your goals. You can create your vision board digitally or physically. I chose to create a physical vision board so I can hold my dreams and goals and see it come together right in front of me. But let’s compare both while we’re here:
Physical Vision Board
- tangible & hands-on
- constant visual reminder
- more engaging process
Digital Vision Board
- easier to create & upload
- portable & accessible
- endless creative options
It depends on what works best for you! If you love hands-on creativity and want a daily reminder in your space, go for a physical vision board. If you prefer flexibilty, portability, and easy updates, a digital vision board might be the way to go.
Or better yet—combine both! I have created a physical board as a dedicated focal point for motivation, but I am going to also create a digital version for inspiration wherever I am.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Creating a vision board isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s a roadmap that can keep you focused, motivated, and intentional with every decision you make. Here’s how it can help you move forward:
Provides Clear Direction
When you feel overwhelmed, it can remind you of your core values. It can ensure that any choice you make aligns with your goals.
Keeps You Focused on Your Goals
With so many ideas swirling in your head, it’s easy to get distracted. The vision board can help prioritize, reminding you of why you started and what you’re working towards.
Identify and Address Emotional Triggers
Whenever you face a tough choice, you can look at your vision board and ask yourself these questions:
- Does it align with my values?
- Will this achieve my goals?
- Does this reflect my long-term vision
Your vision board isn’t set in stone—it’s a living reflection of your dream, guiding you as you turn it into reality.

How I Gained Clarity Through My Vision Board
Creating my bakery vision board helped me turn scattered ideas into a clear, focused plan. It solidified my brand values—quality, comfort, and family—and now guides my decisions, keeping me aligned with my bigger vision.
A vision board isn’t just for businesses; it’s a powerful tool for any goal—personal, career, or lifestyle. If you’re feeling unsure about your next steps, I encourage you to create one. Seeing your dreams laid out visually can bring clarity, motivation, and a clear path forward.
Thank you for spending time with me. I’m so happy you’re here!
